I used to be a huge fan of watching TV on a Mac - ever since my first slot-load iMac back around the year 2001. In fact I didn't own a TV set at all. With a Mac USB TV tuner I could watch broadcast television AND putter on the internet at the same time.
But things change in the technology world. The shift to ATSC Digital transmission was the turning point. Free over the air TV is so important to RURAL people, or those who can't afford the outrageous monthly fees of cable or satellite television subscriptions.
But perhaps more important in the decline in demand for Apple compatible TV thunder hardware was how STREAMING content amde the need to view and capture TV shows in real-time unnecessary.
